Fiddle Pass Traverse Backpacking
by Starry Summit Mountain Adventures
The Eastern border of Jasper National Park is prime terrain to see bears, sheep, and plenty of wildflowers. Shorter than some of the other adventures we offer, the Fiddle River Trail is a great introduction to backpacking in the Canadian Rockies and is an excellent choice for first-time adventurers. For those looking to improve their backcountry skills, there are opportunities to cover techniques such as topographic map reading, compass navigation, and backcountry cooking among many others. Our trail follows the course of the Fiddle River towards its headwaters atop the picturesque seat of Fiddle Pass. On our third day we cross over Fiddle Pass, leave Jasper National Park and travel through Whitehorse Wildland Provincial Park. Our trip ends with a pickup at the Whitehorse Creek Campground and a 1.5 hour drive back to the Jasper Townsite. Guests can look forward to travelling through pristine forest, plenty of delightful riverside break spots, and an impressive vista from Fiddle Pass.
