Fiddle River Trail Backpacking
by Starry Summit Mountain Adventures
The Eastern border of Jasper National Park is prime terrain to see bears, sheep, and plenty of wildflowers. Shorter than some of the other adventures we offer, the Fiddle River Trail is a great introduction to backpacking in the Canadian Rockies and is an excellent choice for first-time adventurers. For those looking to improve their backcountry skills, there are opportunities to cover techniques such as topographic map reading, compass navigation, and backcountry cooking among many others. Our trail follows the course of the Fiddle River towards its headwaters atop the picturesque seat of Fiddle Pass. By breaking down our travel into four days we keep the distances reasonable, and your guide carries the bulk of our group gear to keep pack weight low. Guests can look forward to travelling through pristine forest, plenty of delightful riverside break spots, and an impressive vista from Fiddle Pass. This route starts and ends at the famous Miette Hot Springs, one of only 3 developed natural hot springs in the Canadian Rocky Mountain National Parks.
